Stoma Pouch/Bag Guide

This device is used to help align and fit a Stoma pouch/bag. The ring is made of 3mm thick Acrylic and can easily be cleaned. The Guide enables the Ostomate to have a more rigid seal area and is useful when pressing the bag against the abdomen, rather than trying to mate two floppy surfaces together. Also it enables the bag to better align with the Stoma by easily centralising the bags hole onto the Stoma prior to adhering it.

I found that by breathing in and making my tummy as flat as possible also helped during the fixing process.

I thought up this idea and made a prototype a few months prior to having an Ileostomy reversal. I found that it gave me a more secure uniform adhesion. (No creases or bumps) and enabled me to be leak free for much longer. I wish I had thought of this sooner, as I had a quite a few problems with leaking badly fitting bags.

Fitting the ring between the bag and the wafer the first few times, can be a bit fiddly, however once the bag is firmly secured to your tummy, the guide can be easily removed, just by holding the wafer against tummy and peeling Guide off forwards.

The bag I used was a Coloplast Sensura 15570
